From the Desk of Pastor Raymond
We are glad to announce we are starting a new category… actually, a subcategory and ongoing series.
This first post is intended to briefly describe the purpose of the series, so when you see “One Nation Under God” you’ll know the intention of the subcategory.
This subcategory is intended to bring helpful information connected to our responsibilities as both citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, and citizens of a nation… in this case, America.
As US citizens, we are blessed to be in positions to OPENLY PARTICIPATE in our REPUBLIC. Unlike totalitarian governments such as the Roman Empire of New Testament Days, most historical monarchies, and today’s dictatorships and communist regimes; OUR nation, in its CONSTITUTION, PROVIDES for participation in the government by its CITIZENS.
Our founding documents have guaranteed us MORE RIGHTS than any nation in the world- the right to worship freely, the right to speak and assemble freely, the right to free and fair elections. How long do you have? The intention of the second amendment, by the way (the right to bear arms) was intended to allow individual patriots weaponry in case those rights were threatened or removed by corrupt politicians. Our founding fathers provided for that because that’s what THEY had experienced.
John Hancock– the famous first signer of the Declaration of Independence‒ wisely encourage participation of citizens in governmental affairs. “Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual… Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us.”
To do our part, then, we must first understand our rights and responsibilities as both citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven and of the United States. And we additionally need to be equipped to participate in our society and government APPROPRIATELY.
To do that with excellence, awareness of what the Bible teaches about national leadership and citizenship is vital, as is awareness of world history, American history, Biblical prophecy, current events, and sometimes prophecy from today’s credible prophetic voices.
I know you agree that it’s from our UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE that we develop our WORLDVIEW… and from our worldview come our CHOICES. And some of these choices need to involve ACTION.
Now, that action could be simply praying. I hesitate to use the word SIMPLY here. By simply praying, I just mean that prayer can be done conveniently and at home. This action ‒ praying ‒ isn’t meant to be something we resort to. It profoundly changes things! We should remember to pray for our nation and its leaders and potential leaders each day.
Another action we’re called to is voting… that’s obvious. But there are many OTHER ways of making our world view heard.
With that, I hope you take the time to read these articles as we post them.
Remember: Each of us receives our own dreams, and each of us knows our own state of affairs. Dreamers are intended to make the best interpreters of their own dreams as they grow in understanding of the parabolic language of dreams.
