I awoke a week ago from a somewhat disturbing prophetic dream about a tornado, and noted it I my journal. This morning, I awoke to notices on my phone that a relative had tried to call late last night.
I returned his call immediately to find out about the tornado that devastated parts of the Nashville area.
As I write this, sadly, 24 people have died… with another 200 hospitalized, and 140 buildings devastated. Let me stop right now to say to all those who suffered loss due to the Nashville Tornado: we are praying for you.
The relative reported that late last night he received a notice on his cell phone of a tornado forming in the area. The status went from watch to warning, and even specified via a map its exact path.
When the alerts grew more alarming and pinpointed to his neighborhood, he gathered his wife and three young children, and moved them to what he viewed as the safest place in their hundred-year-old farmhouse.
As he described the sounds and sights that he and his family experienced– and specifically the “baseball-sized hail”– I quickly realized that a dream I had received– exactly 7 days earlier– may have prophesied the tornado!
He reported that they were all safe and sound after an intense scare, and the storm moved eastward. The family went back upstairs; but he went to his work area to track the tornado on his computer for hours.
“I’ve never experienced anything like this,” he reported to us, “tornados just don’t come to Denver. The pounding of the hail– ping-pong-sized to start– and the whistling of the wind– were pretty scary! And the hail was almost coming down sideways on account of the winds!”
WHAT ABOUT THIS DREAM?
Well, here’s the dream:
Feb 25, 2020– The first bit of the dream was not impressive enough to recall in detail, but I remember that when a certain notice came (you’ll know it when you see it), a change of address was to be put in immediately! I’m talking about one of those cards you give the post office when you move.
Next, I find myself in a home resembling my Grandma Edith’s farmhouse. I was looking out the north window seeing hail violently pounding everything in sight, including the swing-set out there. The hailstones– not small and benign, but large and formidable– soon become baseball-sized.
This was so disturbing that I presumed that a tornado must be nearby, so I ran to the east window. As I expected, the clouds were ominous and dark, but I couldn’t actually find a tornado clearly formed or touching down.
Somehow, I knew that the tornado was forming directly overhead, high up in the sky. It would not touch down on this farmhouse, but might on down the road.
I ran to the north window again and said to myself, “It’s hailing debris now! The tornado has surely hit somewhere nearby because I’m seeing evidence of it right here!”
Interestingly, only one item fell from the sky… the corner of a bed-frame with a wheel on it. No other debris came as I waited
Strangely, I remember now an earlier scene where one of our daughters got a newborn kitten (still in the fetal position), and we were amazed at how quickly it was walking!
WHAT DID THE DREAM MEAN? WAS IT ABOUT THE NASHVILLE TORNADO? AND WAS I SUPPOSED TO HAVE WARNED HIM?
Yes, I believe it prophesied the Nashville tornado! One fingerprint God left in this one was that I was in “a home resembling my Grandma Edith’s farmhouse.”
Unless you are new to our site, you know that the Lord makes good use of symbolism in the dreams He sends. Jesus spoke in parables; the Old Testament is filled with symbolic items and actions; and dreams in the Bible are often encoded.
GRANDMA’S FARMHOUSE
Grandma’s farmhouse– the one I delighted in visiting– symbolized our relative’s farmhouse. Easy to make the connection, since there are no other farmhouses in our family.
And BTW, it’s not uncommon for me to dream of her place… most of the time, symbolizing a place (in life) I long to be.
BASEBALL-SIZED HAIL
That dream element was the one that caught my attention, since this relative used the same exact term. Both the dream and his experience included pounding and disturbing hail.
THE SWING-SET
The swing-set wasn’t a big focus in the dream. It was just there. And looking back at the dream, it’s easy to see that it represents the presence of children in the dream. So between the farmhouse and the swing-set– if I’d stopped and thought long enough about the dream, I might have made the connection that the dream was not about my life, but about our relative’s.
THREAT DIRECTLY OVERHEAD
When I used that term to describe the dream to this relative (and before he had given us details), he was taken back! “Yes, that’s right. It was right overhead!”
This dream element actually reveals that the tornado would not touch down (or possibly do any damage) to life and property, but might bring devastation elsewhere… which it surely did.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS
Instructions were given early in the dream that when a “notice” of some kind came, the receiver of the notice was to change locations (submit a change of address).
That’s exactly what this relative did… move everyone to a safer location!
THE BED-FRAME CORNER
“It’s hailing debris now!The tornado has surely hit somewhere nearby because I’m seeing evidence of it right here!” This notation indicates that the tornado formed overhead, but actually will touch down elsewhere.
Interestingly, the only tornado debris was the corner of a bed-frame with a wheel on it. This may symbolize that the tornado will interrupt people’s sleep causing them to need to relocate. It could even prophesy our relative’s inability to sleep (he tracked the Nashville tornado’s path for some hours).
THE WALKING BABY KITTEN
This dream element links directly with our relative, as they love cats and have always had several. It prophesies that they will “receive” something new (but not as significant as some other things), and it will start functioning very quickly.
Could this be the “tornado shelter” he’s already proposing today?
THE DREAM RAISES SOME QUESTIONS
1. WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE DREAM?
2. DID I MESS UP IN NOT MAKING SENSE OF IT AND WARNING HIM IN ADVANCE?
3. SHOULD I HAVE KEPT MY RINGER VOLUME UP SO I WOULD HAVE HEARD THE CALLS?
2) Let me start with this one. I’ve learned over the last 20 years that we need to pretty much be 100% sure of the meaning and application of a heavy prophecy before warning people in advance. If there’s even a chance we could be wrong, we need to pray earnestly about it and get further confirmation.
Although after the fact, I can see all these connections (making me confident that THE DREAM DID PROPHESY THE NASHVILLE TORNADO), I don’t believe this dream would have been enough to tell our relative that a tornado was coming to his neck of the woods!
I have done that sort of thing before and regretted it. I must say here, however, that there have been times, people, and circumstances that did allow me to specifically prophesy heavy things.
But can you imagine the havoc I could have instigated by such a warning? God knew they were not prepared to hear that. So, He in his wisdom, did not lead me to put the clues together like I’ve done today.
3) And what about us turning down our ringer- volume at night? I’m not going to guilt-trip about that. Robo solicitors call day and night, and my husband and I are of an age where getting awoken in the night may result in sleepless hours.
If I’d answered at the time… sure, I would have made the connection, and assured them of God’s protection over them.
But God apparently wanted them to get their comfort directly from him! What a concept? A test of faith… we see them all over scripture!
1) That leaves the purpose or purposes of the dream.

PURPOSE OF NASHVILLE TORNADO DREAM:

I think the purpose of the dream was to bring comfort to your relative and help him to understand that God is mindful of him and aware of the details of his life.
It also encourages him to know that he took the right action in how he handled the tornado (moving his family to a safer location).
God also used the dream to bring him good news that he would receive something new as part of this experience (kitten element).
Another purpose of the dream is that it provided a teaching moment for others who are learning more about dream interpretation. God knew that you would share the dream with us and that it would bring further instruction on how to handle times when a dreamer feels they let someone or God down by failing to warn. We are able to see how prophecy and prophetic dreams can be used to help someone even when we don’t share it beforehand.
SJ’s DREAM SUBMISSION
Several cars are in my driveway when I leave my house. Seems related to someone moving in the neighborhood.
I call my dad and he helps somewhat but the issue isn’t resolved. I think he is driving my car, a red charger (not my car in real life but similar to a car I helped him with financially).
I see the new neighbor and go to her house to confront. She avoids me until I try to be cordial. She barely opens the door and it seems her home/foyer is really crowded. She introduces herself but she doesn’t stop using my stuff.
I see a car slip into my garage as soon as it opens. I’m really frustrated.
Next, a mover guy comes in my house. When I confront him, he tries to sexually assault/intimidate me. Next, Kanye West comes in and is taking my oven. I stop him, tell him to put it back and reconnect it.
I also see two groups of ducks across the street facing my house. Both of them are dark but one is darker.
MY TAKE ON YOUR DREAM
Your spiritual adversary is hoping to take advantage of what you are working on these days… an activity.
The scheme seems to involve the stealing of something you are developing, creating or crafting. .. plans, ideas, intellectual property, for instance. You may not have launched it yet. This would affect your future.
This theft would most likely come in the form of discouragement… leading you to abort this. It could be an actual theft, but that’s less likely.
It looks like demons have been dispatched to size you up to see if there is a legal opening, and to assess the chances of a successful attack.
Now that you know what is coming against you, you can stop it. Just take action. Don’t believe the lies of the devil. Proceed because the Lord’s hand seems to be in this.
Remember: Each of us receives our own dreams, and each of us knows our own state of affairs. Dreamers are intended to make the best interpreters of their own dreams as they grow in understanding of the parabolic language of dreams.
