Monthly Dream Pool- Interpretation Recipient #5
If you read Monthly Dream Pool Winner #4─ From Kansas City “Merlion Twister”… you may have left your reading time with a headache! It was a lot to digest.
This month, we’ve selected a short and simple dream with few dream elements. The dreamer identified himself as African-American male, and described himself as a devout servant of the Lord who spends a great deal of time in prayer and is diligent in gratefulness and obedience. He says he is not currently encountering any problems.
I was in my home when I was alerted to go to my door. The door, which I thought I had locked, was hanging open slightly. What baffled me was that it was opened from the hinge side, rather than the knob side.
Suddenly, the door flew out of the door-frame and projected itself to a horizontal position between the inside and outside of my home. It was floating about three feet above the floor.
I found myself gripping the top end of the door, while this stranger held the bottom side. We were fighting over it… both pushing forward. In other words, it was like a tug-of-war, only the door was the rope and we were pushing rather than pulling.
I wanted to stop the man from succeeding to break in! Before I knew it, I had pushed him away and was once again safe.
Here’s my take:
You will soon notice some sort of attack on you. Clearly, behind what will be arising is that old serpent, the devil. But do not be “unhinged,” because you have the authority to get the victory.
Satan is apparently unhappy with what you are up to, and has made a plan to put a stop to it. He has schemed to somehow break into your life and “steal, kill, and destroy” what is threatening him. John 10:10— The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
The Lord is reminding you that the battle is spiritual, and therefore spiritual weapons will bring victory. Ephesians 6:12— For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
God even shares the type of weapon which is effective in this skirmish. This attacker will be easy to defeat, because you have authority over him. God reveals in the dream that your authority comes from your standing in him. That is, you have “the upper hand” because of your OBEDIENCE to the Word and Voice of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 10:5— We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
John 14:15— “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
2 John 1:6— And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.
We know this because the dream reveals that the enemy is TRESPASSING… and knows he is trespassing. He knows that he has no right to interfere in this way in your life.
But count on this demon to charge forward just in case, hoping you will be intimidated and fail to take the authority you have over him. But he is wrong. You will easily cast him out, secure your life, and continue in your good works.
Door unhinged = illegitimate opening; could be a play on words as in being emotionally and obviously upset
Dreamer holding top of door while stranger holds bottom = dream has the upper hand, has authority
Dreamer succeeds in removing stranger and securing his home = victory is in store
This dream is a good example of the value of knowing the scripture in dream interpretation.
A secular interpretation would be quite different… most likely suggesting that the battle spoken of by the soul of the dreamer is within him or her.
Secular dream interpretation methods would be blind to the revelation that an actual enemy was at hand, and would be wholly unable to bring the dreamer insight as to HOW the dreamer would get the victory.
This insight is gained from connecting the dream elements to scripture. Opening a door from the wrong side, for instance, is an illegitimate means of opening a door. Therefore, the one doing it has impure objectives since the dreamer has not given permission in the dream.
And what does the Bible say about the objectives of the devil? John 10:10— to kill, steal and destroy.
Illegitimacy in a dream additionally depicts an unlawful act. A stranger attempting to break in by unhinging the door tells interpreters that he is “trespassing”.
The dreamer, having read this interpretation, is delighted to have this heads-up, but has not yet seen evidence of it. He says he will most definitely comment below when it manifests.
And we’d love to hear your comments as well. Questions about this welcome!
Remember: Each of us hears from God, and each of us knows our own state of affairs. Dreamers are intended to make the best interpreters of their own dreams as they grow in understanding of the parabolic language of God.
I’m not you, but that’s my view!
