FLEEING IN DREAMS
Universal Dream Element
So you are experiencing dreams of being chased- fleeing- most likely by bad guys. They may have you cornered temporarily, but you escape to run some more… around corners, down alleys, through tunnels, up flights of stairs.
You may even take off and begin flying higher and higher. But those bad guys are still behind you! You have trouble losing them and awaken before you do.
Dreams of Being Chased– A Christian Perspective provides an overview of the meaning of fleeing in dreams using the biblical approach to dream interpretation.
WHAT DREAMS OF BEING CHASED MEAN
Fleeing dreams mean that for some reason, your spiritual enemy has targeted you with a plan is to incite fear.
Again, dreams of being chased reveal that you are or will be experiencing spiritual battle.
Though Ephesians 6:12 is general biblical instruction, dreams of falling indicate that this instruction is at the HEART of the problem in your life. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH BEING CHASED IN DREAMS
From Pastor Lynmarie
I had repeated dreams of falling beginning in high school. They started with dreams of being chased by enemies. Then eventually, I began to fly in the dreams.
What was most impressive was the feelings of frustration as I would attempt to use the breast stroke up in the air. Most of the time, I expended a lot of effort, but didn’t get far. In later dreams, the enemies took to the air as well. They never did catch me, but they certainly forced me to learn to fly! (see flying)
It was nearly 30 years before I began to understand the meaning of theses dreams, which had dominated about a dozen years of my life. The dreams played out just like they had symbolically prophesied.
My husband and I were destined to know a lot about deliverance, and therefore to help others be freed of demonic harassment and oppression. Though we would have preferred to have avoided such challenges, we take great pleasure in bringing victory in the lives of others.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE BEING CHASED IN DREAMS
You combat this in a number of ways, but for starters:
Avoid giving in to temptations to be anxious.
God reassures us in many scriptures throughout the Bible to not let fear be the controller in our lives, (Isaiah 41:10, Philippians 4:6-7). The Lord, many times, will give us a glimpse of spiritual warfare in our lives through dreams to alert us to what is going on in the spirit! A revealing of the intentions of our enemies, if you will, (Luke 16:15, Acts 15:8).
God is all about protecting us and He will communicate to us through dreams, prophetic words or visions, dangers or perils coming our way.
Remember above all that God is our advocate. He sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us just as an attorney would defend us in court. God is our attorney, (Romans 8:34).
And, as always, we should pray and ask God to show us more about these dreams of being chased, that we may understand them, and how to deal with the problem they foretell properly and effectively.
