Follow the Yelllow Van

Once again, a post for you to test your dream interpretation skills on.
yellow van post 2.jpgThis time, read the DREAM and OUR INTERPRETIVE COMMENTS before clicking on the DREAM ELEMENTS and further clarification to see how the parabolic symbolism works together to form the message from the Holy Spirit.

In this dream, the dreamer is driving a car accompanied by her boyfriend (name not included here) when she is told by the Lord that she is to follow the yellow van with bumper stickers on it. She follows until the van pulls up to an apartment building suspended on water.

She watches as several guys pile out of the van and head into their apartments, but could not continue to follow as she had noticed a girl drowning nearby.

The dreamer rushes to pull the girl out, but it is very difficult as if the water is more like mud. From the dock, the dreamer pulls and pulls the stuck and distressed girl. It is a slow process but when they find success, the girl wraps her legs around the dreamer as the hug and cry. The dreamer sobs and thanks God for showing her the little girl.

At this point the dreamer notices her boyfriend by her side as he wraps a blanket around the girl. Assuming that her mother is unaware that she had been in danger, they rush the girl home in the aforementioned building. Her brothers and sisters are found watching TV in the living room.

This dream reveals a coming great restoration of your hopes and dreams. Though your heart’s desires have been nearly suffocated, you will soon move to the “place” you belong, a place of freedom and restoration.

This transition may be emotionally difficult and take some time, but rest assured that the lover of your soul, Jesus, will be with you and bring you comfort— as will your friends in Christ.

YOU ALONE, though, have the authority, capacity, and strength to usher in this new season by following the promises of God and the hope of a brighter future.

What you are involved in/doing, you have authority over.

You are in charge; you can make the decisions.

FOUR clues in the dream tell us that the boyfriend in the dream is referring to CHRIST:

2. This is not an ex-boyfriend (which carries a different meaning)
3. His name in real life (not disclosed here) means Christ
4. Wrapping the distressed girl in a blanket is consistent with Christ’s character

Yellow, like all colors, carries a positive and negative meaning. In this dream we know the symbolism is positive since the voice of God told you to follow it.

Yellow in the positive symbolizes motivation through hope, dreams, promise and faith, rather than motivation through fear

The positive color yellow accompanied by bumper stickers clarifies this symbolism

The bumper stickers are the Promises of God/Word of God

The message in this is: Follow the Promises of God/Word of God

People are being taken to where they belong through this vehicle (which symbolizes faith in the Promises of God/Word of God)

Many dwell in the same building, thus apartments symbolize a particular experience which is common to man

Examples of experiences common to man include: divorce, marriage, foreclosure, bankruptcy, grieving the death of someone, suffering, etc.

Water carries several Biblical meanings, but in this case, it depicts the Spirit of God

These homes are being sustained by the Spirit of God

These most likely symbolize friends.

If they are male, it’s because they are leaders rather than followers

Young girls often represent the hopes, dreams, and promise found in a girl while she has an uncorrupted faith in the brightness of her future

Drowning pictures suffocation or feeling overwhelmed

While swimming in clear water may represent immersion in a clean spirit such as the Holy Spirit, swimming in dark water reveals the presence of uncleanness or a demonic spirit or spirits

This water is “sticky”— difficult to remove yourself from

Restoration of hopes, dreams, and heart’s desires

Freedom from suffocation or feeling overwhelmed

Once the rescue is complete, your eyes will be fully opened as to the depth of what just happened— a significant escape from danger and a new-found freedom

Naturally you will experience deep emotions as you thank God for showing you the way and giving you the strength to carry it out

Christ bringing comfort after these brave actions

Mothers have several meanings in Christian dream interpretation

In this case, she may symbolize “home” metaphorically speaking (the place you belong), but could mean your literal mother

Home/where you belong grounded by the Spirit of the Lord

Brothers and sisters in Christ supporting you, behind you, and watching how you handle the situation you find yourself in.

WHO IS THE LITTLE GIRL that the dreamer rescued?

The little girl actually represents the dreamer, or more specifically, a part of her— the part containing the hopes, dreams, and promise found in a girl while she has an uncorrupted faith in the brightness of her future.

Interestingly, the dreamer plays two roles in this scene. You might say then, that the dreamer rescues herself!

In dreams, anything is possible. We can be transported instantaneously, play multiple roles, go forward or backward in time, watch ourselves as if viewing with a THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE… the possibilities never end.

An excellent example of a dream similar to “Follow the Van” is Abraham Lincoln’s prophetic dream just days before he was assassinated. He too played two roles in the dream.

The book “Killing Lincoln“, a historical work by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, describes the President’s dream and his reaction to it:Killing Lincoln - CopyLINCOLN’S DREAM

There seemed to be a deathlike stillness about me. Then I heard subdued sobs, as if a number of people were weeping.

I thought I left my bed and wandered downstairs. There the silence was broken by the same pitiful sobbing, but the mourners were invisible. I went from room to room. No living person was in sight, but the same mournful sounds of distress met me as I passed along.

It was light in all the rooms. Every object was familiar to me. But where were all the people who were grieving as if their hearts would break? I was puzzled and alarmed. What could the meaning of all this?

Determined to find the cause of a state of things so mysterious and shocking, I kept on until I arrived in the East Room, which I entered. There I met with a sickening surprise.

Before me was a catafalque [a decorated wooden framework supporting the coffin of a distinguished person], on which rested a corpse wrapped in funeral vestments. Around it were stationed soldiers who were acting as guards. And there was a throng of people, some gazing mournfully upon the corpse, whose face was covered, others weeping pitifully.

‘Who is dead in the White House’? I demanded of one of the soldiers.

‘The President,’ was the answer. ‘He was killed by an assassin.’

Upon the horrified reaction of his wife and the group to which he was confiding, Lincoln continued.

“Well it was only a dream, Mary. Let us say no more about it.”

After an awkward moment he added, “Don’t you see how it will all turn out? In this dream, it was not me, but some other fellow that was killed.”

So you see, Mr. Lincoln contradicted himself, first implying that this was what we call a PIZZA DREAM (nonsense), and then suggested that it was about a FUTURE PRESIDENT, not himself. He proceeded days later to an exposed public place with only one body guard (whose trust was questionable).

Clearly, dreamers can play two roles in dreams and/or watch themselves as if viewing with a THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE. The “Follow the Van” dream shouts the message: rescue yourself!

“What evidence is there that this is true?” you might ask.

1. When a dreamer does not play a role at all in a dream, but simply watches, then dream may not be about the dreamer. But this is not the case in this dream (or in Lincoln’s).

2. The dreamer is driving a car, indicating that she is in authority over an involvement or activity in her life. This is about HER LIFE, a clue that the dream is intrinsic (about her rather than someone else).

3. Another clue that the dream is about the dreamer rescuing herself rather than rescuing someone else is that she is told to: follow the van, meaning follow hope, follow the promises of God. Sounds like excellent instruction in general, and such advice will benefit the dreamer directly.

This dream is very fresh and indicates that the coming days will challenging for the dreamer. Let’s support her in prayer, for her faith and courage in whatever situation has gotten her stuck.

Remember: Each of us hears from God, and each of us knows our own state of affairs. Dreamers are intended to make the best interpreters of their own dreams as they grow in understanding of the parabolic language of God.

I’m not you, but that’s my view!

Every Blessing!
