Featured Fifty Dream Elements

This page combines some of the most common dream elements with some of the most intriguing and surprising!

We provide free access to a Top-50 Dream Dictionary and extensive Categorical Dream Dictionaries, all faith-based with all entries personally verified.

We at propheticdreamers.com want to provide you with the tools to help you understand the meanings of your own dreams, and it’s our opinion that along with understanding key Biblical dream interpretation principles, symbolism understanding associated with various dream elements can be immensely helpful.

* What makes our dictionary unique is that we only include listings in the dictionary of elements that we have personally confirmed the meaning/meanings through our own dreams and the dreams of others.

Please keep in mind that our Dream Symbol Dictionary is just one of the tools. Searching out the meaning of the elements in your dreams is just one of the steps involved in accurate dream interpretation. (If we could just match up the stuff in the dreams with their symbolic meanings, it would all make sense, right?)

Dream Dictionary 150Experience tells us that a little knowledge in this area can be dangerous. Numerous concepts must be factored in before jumping to interpretation conclusions. Correct interpretation and confirmation can prove priceless, while mis-interpretation can prove disastrous.

Ask an untrained prophetic dreamer who offered a friend some unsolicited but” inspired” advice. Or a Christian counselor who dreamed that one of her clients was unfaithful and suicidal. Then there was the time I prepared a daughter and husband for the significantly premature birth of a child!

Bottom line, we’re committed to helping you avoid the tragic mistakes. We all make enough of those without help from misunderstood visions of the night! Understanding our dreams can be challenging because often times, the dreams are complex.

You may be asking the question: but why do we think dream interpretation can be so complicated? It seemed pretty simple in ancient times or in scripture records. Check again; look into the Old Testament; simplicity wasn’t always the case. It’s easy to play arm chair quarterback when the game is already over! But what if you’d dreamed of the sun, moon, and 11 constellations bowing down to you? What’s the moon symbolize? (Remember your mom died while birthing your little brother.)

So here are a few aspects of dream interpretation that should be considered. How do I know if the positive or the negative symbolism apply to a particular element? Does my emotion mean anything? If the dream is prophetic, does that mean it’s definitely going to come true? How important are the details? Where’s the dream coming from? Is it emerging from my inner self? Is the dream a way of processing of the information I’ve recently been exposed to? Is my heart speaking? Is it God speaking? The devil?

Because we truly care about you, we have in mind the classic Hippocratic oath, “First, do no harm”. So we considered making the dictionary feature on our site only available to those you had taken an initial course . . . but thankfully, our faith in you overruled that idea!

Bottom line, before responding in real life to what you believe is a correct message in a dream, get confirmation. And take advantage of the other tools we are making available to you as well!

Universal Dream Element

1. Large Corporation, organization, school, college, hospital, entity, or even household may be involved

    • I dreamed I was aboard a large airliner awaiting take-off (having forgotten my cosmetics) when we hit a major speed bump prior to taking off. Next day I fell, broke my collar bone, and was transported to the hospital without makeup!
    • In one dream, (after telling the Lord I didn’t want to waste time putting things in storage prior to our move) I piloted a large aircraft. Turned out it symbolized our large household of furnishings and goods being “up in the air” (in storage) prior to a move. God was telling me no.

alligator-in-pondUniversal Dream Element

1. Aggressive, pushy, vicious mouth, fast, hidden, dangerous, destructive verbal attack

Lies, gossip, and rumors may be involved

    • • I dreamed of a drained and muddy river bed which the mud descended from revealing the backs of alligators throughout. Shortly thereafter, our family experienced one of the most divisive, accusatory, and destructive seasons to date.

Thankfully, reconciliation in relationships came later, and the season was used to bring at least one family member closer to the Lord

Eventually the truth came out bringing resolution and an end to the root of the conflict

cellar 1Universal Dream Element

1. A dream setting in a basement most likely is addressing issues that have until now been hidden

These issues can also be foundational issues for a doubled layer of symbolism

Although the function of basements has evolved into elaborate recreation area and such, dreams generally take the original and more historical connotation

BeachUniversal Dream Element

1. Where eternity meets time, where deep meets shallow, where man meets God

Can be church, can be personal spiritual intimacy, a supernatural experience or visitation, etc.

    • • When I had a near-death experience (not breathing for 10 minutes), I found myself hiding behind a large rock overlooking a beach

• I was once swept into a vision where I found myself on a beach watching packs of wolves move about the shore. It prophesied my involvement and battles within corrupt churches

black_bear_cub 1Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1. May concern something appearing docile (teddy bear) that can suddenly and ferociously attack.

It could indicates your spiritual enemy’s plan for you. Fear not. You can change that plan.

2. Can indicate judgment and strength

Amos utilized the bear as a symbol of the extraordinary judgment coming upon Israel if this Northern Kingdom didn’t repent, It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear Amos 5:19. We would say, “like going from the frying pan to the fire”.

Bears are often mentioned in the Old Testament in conjunction with lions I Samuel 17:34-37; 2 Samuel 17:8-10; Proverbs 28:15; Isaiah 11:7; Hosea 13:8.

3. Bears are sometimes likened to possessive mothers and the emotions this could arouse.

The scripture reinforces this, Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool bent on folly. Proverbs 17:12

So a bear might represent being easily aroused or a confrontation with dangerous emotions such as anger. This confrontation with emotions could be about an inner conflict within the dreamer, OR it could represent a negative encounter with someone or something else.

4. The bear is largely a solitary creature, capable of living alone and surviving. So a bear in a dream may signify a person living alone or being somewhat disconnect from others. This option might only be true in conjunction with another more dominant bear trait.

5. A bear’s human way of standing and holding its arms out in a hugging posture may represent a particular- someone who can at one moment be gushing with adoration and affection, but at another, be explosive and vindictive.

6. A bear can personify a wicked government or ruler as in Revelation 13:2, The beast I saw resembled a leopard but had feet like those of a bear

7. Less likely, but we have seen a bear have to do with loss or lack as in a “bear market”

For more insight on bears as a dream symbol, visit EARLY EDITION, a post describing how a dream combined 4 of these descriptions to reveal exactly who the dream was referring to.

Universal Dream Element

So you are being chased (fleeing), most likely by bad guys. They may have you cornered temporarily, but you get away to run some more . . . around corners, down alleys, through tunnels, up flights of stairs. You may even take off and begin flying higher and higher. But those bad guys are still behind you. You have trouble losing them and awaken before you do.

1. Fleeing dreams mean that for some reason, you have been targeted by your spiritual enemy and his plan is to incite fear. You can combat this plan by not giving in to temptations to be anxious.

• I had repeated dreams like this in high school. They started with me being chased by enemies. Then I began to fly in the dreams attempting to use the breast stroke; up in the air, but sometimes not moving too fast. In later dreams, the enemies took to the air as well. They never did catch me, but they certainly forced me to learn to fly! (see flying)

It was nearly 30 years before the manifestation of the dreams caught up with me, but this theme dominated about a dozen years of my life and played out just like the dreams had prophesied. My husband and I were destined to know a lot about deliverance!

blueUniversal & Biblical Dream Element

Positive– Communion and intimacy with God, most likely resulting in revelation from God

The connection is open between you and God

• Universal- Our blue sky pictures the zone connecting heaven and earth. Ancient peoples believed the sky separated humans from the realm of the gods.

• Biblical- Blue was the most outer garment for the High Priest of Israel who functioned as a link between God and His people as He alone moved into the Holy of Holies. Exodus 28

• Biblical- When the Tabernacle was dismantled and moved, all the holy articles inside were covered in blue. Numbers 4

Negative– Sorrow, depression, emotional lows

• We are said to be blue or have the blues when we are sad or depressed

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1. The first meaning of bread is wisdom, Godly wisdom, scripture, teachings, doctrines

She [wisdom] has prepared her food. . . She has also set her table. . . she calls . . . “Whoever is naive, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks understanding she says, “Come, eat of my food” Proverbs 9:2-5
And he said to me, “Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the people of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat. Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. He then said to me: “Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them. Ezekiel 3:1-3

Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Matthew 16:12

Additional Passages: John 6, Numbers 14:9, Isaiah 55:2

2. A second meaning of Bread is daily sustenance, essentials for survival

Give us each day our daily bread. Luke 11:3

The number of loaves in a basket indicates the number of days

he [the baker] said to Joseph, “I too had a dream: On my head were three baskets of bread.”
“This is what it means,” Joseph said. “The three baskets are three days.
Gen 40:16-20

3. A third symbolism is that bread can symbolize the PEOPLE or PERSON carrying God’s word and thus representing Him

• Gideon overheard a dream in the camp of his enemy who dreamed they were overtaken by bread and the Midianite knew they would be beaten by the Israelites. Judges 7:13-14

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1. Butter is associated with smoothness (Greased pigs are said to be hard to catch), and most often
refers to smooth-talk, a silver-tongued person, cunningness; or deceptive works, words or motives

The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. Psalm 55:21

2. Butter could represent knowledge gained through experience

• Butter is milk beaten! It is liquid turned to solid. Hebrews 5:12-14 rebukes those who still need foundational teaching about Christ saying that they should be partaking of solid food rather than milk.

3. Butter can carry a personal meaning- butter in a dream of a jazz musician might be speaking of his music (smooth jazz). This principle is true of elements that carry personal meaning for the dreamer (hobbies, passions, professions, etc.)

have your cake and eat it tooUniversal Dream Element

1. Something sweet, good, pleasant to the Lord

If it’s baking, something sweet is coming. Hold on; it’s not time yet

In the oven may imply that heat is needed to produce this

2. Concerning the inability to have it both ways

You can’t have your cake and eat it too

• Cake in the following dream utilizes both of the first 2 meanings: I once dreamed that the leader of our worship team had a turkey in the oven while I had a cake baking. The leader was siphoning off musicians and vocalists to his personal gospel group resulting in their inability to have time for the church praise team. This gentleman was trying to have it both way and baking up something God wasn’t blessing, while what I was cooking up was sweet to the Lord.

3. Symbolizing a birthday (or special occasion you would have a cake for)

• I dreamed that precious moments artwork was on the top layer of my father’s next birthday cake, but after the party as I tried to move the cake, the top layer kept slipping off.

My father died 10 days after his birthday, but only after I had been advised by the dream to travel to be with him. The message of the dream: PRECIOUS MOMENTS ARE SLIPPING AWAY.

Fluffy Cat in the SnowUniversal & Personal Dream Element

1. Concerning independence or representing an independent person

Could be spiritual independent- self-sufficiency, lack of recognition of need for God

• I had repeated dreams about either a cat or about a particular politician who had just changed his party affiliation to Independent. The dreams were about one of our children whom we were estranged from at the time.

2. Representing a person due the person’s love for cats or femininity

• A recent dream within our family of the death of a fluffy white beloved (but deceased) family cat prophesied the end of a marriage, the beautiful young ballerina walking away

• A girlfriend of one of our sons dreamed of an eagle chasing her and asked me about it. Since she loves and has several cats, clearly she herself was symbolized by a cat to show how much God loves her and wants to move her into the prophetic realm.

• One of our sons dreamed about an opportunity to move into an apartment filled with cats. He later met the young woman he is currently engaged to (the above dreamer). Not only does she love cats, but her mother is a breeder of exquisite cats.

3. Dreaming of your current pet cat (especially you don’t have a dog) may be referring to a pet habit

cheeseUniversal & Biblical Dream Element

1. Cheese in a dream may reveal that whatever is going on involves a good deal of time coupled with something stimulating a change

A dream of cheese as an element may bring the dreamer who is feeling frustrated with the lack of change or resolution may be encouraged to know that this long season is in the plan

• Job, speaking to God asked, “Did You not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese?” Job 10:10

chickenUniversal Dream Element

1. Fear, anxiety, cowardly motives

We are said to be chicken when we are afraid to do something

2. A woman, or a young woman- a chick (seriously!)

    • • The person who shampoos my hair when I go to the salon tells me his dreams. The second and last one was of chasing a golden (like the precious metal) chicken. It got away once, but was back, and he was chasing it.

I considered that the chicken might represent me, based on the first dream months earlier. Surely God was telling the dreamer to pursue me and find the treasure that I hold. Because I definitely hold treasure! Can you guess what the treasure is?

daughter-kissing-mom-cheek 1
Universal Dream Element

1) The vast majority of the time, our own children in dreams symbolize something we have birthed or begun

This can be comforting since disturbing things sometimes happen to them in dreams

Examples of thing we initiate include involvements, projects, ministries, mission trips, business ventures, school registration, relationships… anything at all

And dreams also show that we are responsible for initiating things spiritually, by our prayers, our God-given desires, our obedience, our integrity, our worship, etc.

This dream theme is one of the most common overall and the most misinterpreted

• The first time I dreamed of a daughter dying, I was very disturbed. What puzzled me, though, was that she came back to life later. Truly a direction I had taken came to a halt for a significant season and then I was able to return to it later.

Remember, when you dream of your own children, consider first that you may be receiving revelation concerning something you have birthed somehow

Dreams of other people’s children hold a different meaning

Universal Dream Element

You are falling or someone you know is falling. It may be falling down stairs, into what may be a bottomless pit, or from off a cliff. These dreams are especially disturbing and should not be ignored

1. A dreamer falling may be facing a loss of support of some kind

Remember, we fall here on earth because of gravity. What we are standing on serves as support for us. Without something underneath us, we fall.

Loss of support can be about loss of financial resources, but most of the time it comes down to loss of emotional support through a relationship

• One night several years ago, I dreamed one of my daughters was in the back of a car parked at the top of a hill in the darkness. The car backed up into a large pit. In the dream I was unable to look down into the pit to see how deep it was or if it was bottomless.

I awoke in the middle of the night highly disturbed. As I pondered about it the next day, I presumed because she was in college, the dream must have been about an upcoming loss of financial aid. I figured we could overcome the problem when it arose.

WRONG! I should have noticed the darkness and the intensity and impressiveness of the dream, how it alarmed me and stuck with me, the emotions it incited. And I should have put it together with the following dream that night. I could have been strategically praying.

I can’t claim to understand all the ways of the invisible world, but a couple of months later, my daughter’s boyfriend was killed in a late night motorcycle accident. The loss of support for my daughter can’t be described in words.

Keep in mind that this example is extreme. Many situations of loss of support are much more trivial.

father of-2-silhouette-280x175Universal & Biblical Dream Element

Our father in a dream may be literal, but generally:

1. Our father in a dream may represent our Heavenly Father, especially if our real father is or was a reasonably good role model (though all fathers are far from perfect)

This can be true even if the father in the dream is depicted as soon to die or dead since in some seasons of our lives, it SEEMS like God is dead so to speak. That is, sometimes it seems like God has abandoned us (but take heart, those seasons are a temporary part of life to mold and purify us)

• I still enjoy my wonderful father in dreams even though he died years ago. He does everything from dance with me to appearing exceptionally handsome- younger and tan. God is demonstrating to me through dreams his response to me or what He’s up to.

2. Our father in a dream may represent a father-in-law or step-father

3. Our father in a dream may represent an authority figure such as a boss or someone who fathered something in our lives

4. A father in a dream may even represent the father of lies, Satan

• One of our children recently dreamed that we received a phone call informing us that his father/my husband had died. Yikes! Don’t you love those! The interesting part was that prior to the phone call, his father was racing a race car which was a Cobra. Since a cobra is a most venomous and deadly snake, could this not be interpreted as the father of lies dying in our son’s life?

We suggested that he revisit the personal condemnation lies that he had believed as a teen or in recent years (you will never become anything, nothing will ever change, you won’t be able to succeed at anything, you won’t succeed at relationship, etc.) and ponder which one or ones were still encircling his mind from time to time. This prophetic dream was to encourage the dreamer that his brother would be delivered from the lies. It took a great deal of life experiences, but was eventually fulfilled.

Universal Dream Element

They may have you cornered temporarily, but you get away to run some more . . . around corners, down alleys, through tunnels, up flights of stairs. You may even take off and begin flying higher and higher. But those bad guys are still behind you. You have trouble losing them and awaken before you do.

Universal Dream Element

Flying without the aircraft! You are the aircraft! This may be in conjunction with the fleeing dreams where you run and then eventually take off into your own personal flight (the breast stroke works but it’s quite a struggle to get air to do what water does and you don’t move very fast).

1. Congratulations! You will be learning to soar over the circumstances and you are called to higher spiritual levels

You are called to understand spiritual things at higher levels than most

This dream is common among those who enjoy or seek spirituality, no matter the religious belief

It is a sign they are actually called to be true sons and daughters of Christ

number-4 - CopyUniversal & Biblical Dream Element
4= The world, creation, universality

• The world. Four directions, four winds (10 references), four corners of the earth (Rev 7:1), and
four sides or corners of a building (Ezek 42:20; 46:21)

• The four representatives of the world as in “every tribe, tongue, people, and nation” is mentioned

seven times in Revelation, each time underscoring the world’s response to Christ, either acceptance or rebellion

• The intensity of what the world finally comes to before Jesus steps in is symbolized in
the four beasts, four heads, four kings, four living creatures, four angels, four horns, and four faces from Revelation and Ezekiel

• The house of God set up in the world is filled with the imagery of the number four as in four rings of gold, four cups, four pillars, four horns, four bronze rings, four rows of precious stones

• Universality within the world

• Naming extremes– north, south, east, west– suggests everything in between

• The passages using the terms “every tribe, tongue, people, and nation” also suggest the universal
potential for salvation and judgment

frogUniversal & Biblical Dream Element

1. Spirit of lust (jumping)

2. Fleshly Spirit- Out of the water (the Spirit) too much

3. Seducing Spirit- Concerning counterfeit supernatural signs and wonders for the purpose of seducing

Then I saw three impure spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. They are demonic spirits that perform signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty. Revelation 16:13-14

The plague of frogs as recorded in Exodus 7:14-25 came right after the dramatic first blood plague, and thus the frogs represent confirmation. This strengthens the meaning stemming from Revelation 16:13-14.

This dream element can be referring to either male or female

If you dream of a frog, beware of a person who is more about the flesh than the Spirit and may want to seduce you into something for his/her own benefit.

furniture etc
Universal Dream Element

1. Furniture and household goods in general represent the assets or resources one has

This may go beyond material things and can include skills, knowledge, ideas, faith, character, etc.

Furniture can depict feelings and ideas in a person’s life that don’t belong such as bitterness, bad habits or attitudes, fear, shame

Furniture if crowded in a room can be extras a person needs to let go of in order to take him or her further in life

• One recent dream of mine took place in a room crowded with furniture, but the room wasn’t mine. Other dream elements told me it represented the choir I was involved in (many songs, many lyrics, much harmony)

garage 2 car - SQUniversal Dream Element

1. A garage primarily symbolizes a place a vehicle waits between moving about the streets

If you’re dreaming that your car is sitting in garage, you are being informed of an area of inactivity in your life

A car in the garage in one of our Featured Dreams provides an example of a dreamer being commended for NOT moving forward with her imaginations

More often, however, garage dreams depict that God is allowing a season of inactivity in an area of a dreamer’s life (career, ministry, relationship) for the good in the long run.

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1. The majority of the time hands in dreams represent relationships

We shake hands. We hold hands.

“Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.” declares the Lord.

    • Jeremiah 18:5

When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Exodus 33:22

• Dreams of wounds on hands have consistently paralleled relationship problems in the life of the dreamers

2. A second possibility and much less common is that hands in dreams may be concern the work or works of a person or group

The work or works can either be for good or for bad and can be work like a profession or works like choices we’ve made

Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord.

    • Isaiah 66:2

And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it. Exodus 7:5

From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Matthew 16:21

If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. Matthew 18:8

He pleaded earnestly with Jesus, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” Mark 5:23

When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his handsin front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. Matthew 27:24

horses-9-07-07-2391 lisa dearing
Universal & Biblical Dream Element

Horses symbolize significant power or a move of God

The element is very Biblical

The four horsemen of the Apocalypse represent 4 events which will take place in the end times, when a massive amount of power will be displayed worldwide. Revelation 6:1-8

    • Horses in ancient cultures were a major sign of power. Deuteronomy 17:6 tells us that God wants us to rely on Him, not our own power.

The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself.

A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. Psalm 33:17

• I once dreamed I was standing in a creek and a white horse came by and knocked the diamond off my wedding ring. Before long I lost my wedding ring, but an important character lesson was learned in the experience.

The power depicted by a horse can be originating from the dark side

2. A horse may represent a wicked person as in Jeremiah 8:6, None of them repent of their wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Each pursues their own course, like a horse charging into battle.

hotel-martinez-cannesUniversal & Biblical Dream Element

1. Dreams of a stay at a hotel indicate that the dreamer is going through a temporary situation

The situation may be common or unique, good or bad, but the main feature is that it won’t last long

Also, there may be a price to pay in conjunction with this situation

The Biblical meaning is the same as the universal- a temporary stay. The parable of the Good Samaritan makes the same point: the injured man would have a temporary stay at an inn until he was able to go home.

He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. Luke 10:34

2. A hotel in a foreign country where people vacation may carry a different meaning

• I have dreamed several times of being at a hotel in a resort area of Mexico. The dreams were all just prior to attending a conference.

old-house SQ
Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1) A dream in your house has to do with a situation in your life

The most important thing to remember is that housing generally has to do with a life situation.

When a focus of a dream is a house, think of it like a parable.

turquoise jewelry - SQ

1. The general meaning for jewelry is something that enhances
Jewelry is an accessory, something additional. Jewelry garnishes us, adorns us, and enhances us. Jewelry is that extra something.

2. Specifically, jewelry often symbolizes spiritual gifts

• We’ve seen in dreams prophetically gifted people wearing jewelry

3. Jewelry often symbolizes the meaning of the precious stone involved

Turquoise, for instance, represents extraordinary healing and is an element in one of our Featured Dreams “Turquoise Silver Heart Pendant”.

-Kitchen-white-and-blue - SQ

1. A scene taking place in a kitchen signifies something going on which involves ideas and/or preparation

Someone is cooking something up!

Can be for good or for bad

• Have seen this many times… during a legal battle while working on the case, while writing curriculum, to emphasize the dreamer’s creativity…

• Once I saw the future kitchen of the next house we would move to. It had the exact unusual shape and features with a few extra things thrown in to foretell the main purpose of that season in our lives.

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

We are talking about a sharp cutting knife here rather than a table knife

1. Ouch! This indicates a verbal attack

It cuts through the skin and wounds the person

Like a… knife… is one who gives false testimony against a neighbor Proverbs 25:18

The larger and sharper the knife, the greater the attack

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

(Swords may carry this meaning with greater intensity or may hold a different meaning entirely)

It’s an Alice in Wonderland dream! “You’re late, you’re late, for a very important date!” You just have to get there and you’re feeling very stressed that you may not be able to get there in time.

1. LATE dream themes tell the dreamer that there is a specific TIME he or she is supposed to be in a specific place.
This is one of the most common dream themes.
These dreams seem to come as the dreamer is about to go somewhere new or as the dreamer needs to change an attitude or perspective.
LATE TO A PLACE- If you have one of these dreams, discern where you are supposed to get to (what the place symbolizes) and don’t delay getting there.
Some dreams are about bring late in reference to FINISHING SOMETHING rather than being late getting to a place.
LATE COMPLETING AN ACTIVITY- If the dream is about some sort of “project” you are working on, and you feel that you are already working as hard and fast on it as you can, don’t fret. God is telling you to keep up the pace, but that He is the author of time.
• A number of dreams I’ve received come to mind, some when trying out a new church, some connected to this ministry. some while amid family or relational changes. In one dream, I was late going home to the place I grew up. Although I knew in my heart that I was supposed to change my attitude immediately (to get to the “place” I belonged), I remained in denial for some time causing unnecessary pain for others.

So you dreamed you were lost, couldn’t find the place you knew you were supposed to go. Maybe there were detours, too much traffic, or a river between you and that place. Maybe you tried various streets only to find you just did not know how to get from where you were to where you were supposed to be.

1) LOST DREAMS. There is a place you are supposed to be

Identify it. Move toward it. The “place” you are supposed to find doesn’t have to be literal either. It can be a school meaning you need to or will be learning something. It can be an attitude etc.

LATE and LOST dreams tend to go hand-in-hand. When you dream both of these together, pay attention! Don’t miss where you are supposed to move to and when.

rising-full-moonUniversal & Biblical Dream Element

1) Mother

In Genesis 37:9 the moon symbolizes Rebecca, the mother of Joseph and his brothers. So the moon can symbolize a mother. Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”

2) Demonic, from the hellish realm, possibly a principality

The moon is a satellite orbiting the earth and as such, carries a negative Biblical symbolism. Scripture speaks of first and third heaven, but the one in between, the second heaven, is implied- the term itself not being used.

The first heaven is the heavens we can physically see- the stars, planets, and sun of our universe. Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”

The third heaven refers to the heaven where our Heavenly Father dwells, the place where Jesus said he was preparing mansions for us. Paul records in 2 Corinthians 12:2 a vision of such when he wrote that he was caught up to the third heaven.

By tradition, the second heaven represented by the moon refers to the hellish realm where the prince of the air is said to live; the place where powers and principalities rule from

• One of our family members once dreamed that our family was exploring the moon and collecting rocks. Too bad we didn’t understand the warning. Before long, some of us were throwing “rocks” at each other.

• Soon after my father died, I dreamed my older brother was orbiting the moon and had a digestive disorder. After my mother died, my younger brother and I found out that our older brother had syphoned many thousands of dollars off of my mother and tried to hide it. He went so far as to forge a document relieving him of the debt.
Turned out the moon represented both my mother and the demonic.

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1) Mortar symbolizes holding something together- and it’s most likely Jesus

Scripture says that Jesus holds all things together. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17

• One dream focused on a brick wall that was falling apart because the mortar was missing. The person whom the dream was about surely needed the Lord. I was told in the dream not to try to fix it myself, but to call a mason.

oceanUniversal & Biblical Dream Element

Background Information:

Water in the Bible generally carries 3 distinct meanings, and the ocean is associated with 1 of them.

The ocean was thought of by other ancient cultures as the ultimate chaos only kept in its place and under control by a sovereign force.

The Hebrews likewise saw the sea as a great cosmic force that only God can govern

1. The ocean often symbolizes multitudes of people (great cosmic force #1, difficult to control)

As a Biblical element, the beast of Revelation is said to emerge from a sea of people. The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. Revelations 13:1

• One of our children dreamed of an ocean liner. It represented something that would impact a large number of people

2. Eternity, Divinity, the Word and Character of God (great cosmic force #2)

The depth and expanse of the ocean may symbolize the immensity of God and what is associated with Him- the knowledge, wisdom, love, and Word of God

Referred to as the deep in the book of Genesis, the ocean may depict a depth that is unreachable, unsearchable or irretrievable.

O Lord, how great are thy works! And thy thoughts are very deep Psalm 92:5
Keep hold of the deep truths of the faith I Timothy 3:9
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God I Corinthians 7:7
how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ Ephesians 3:18
• The mysteries of the Holy Spirit are compared to the ocean
As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable Proverbs 25:3

My soul is downcast within me… Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me Psalm 42:6-7

Our sins are said to be thrown to the bottom of the sea

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1) Red symbolizes battle and concepts associated with it
Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword. Revelation 6:4

      • Power, anointing, and wisdom for battle or completed battle

      • Anger, battle, bloodshed, destruction

Red often reveals that a spiritual battle is underway or depicts the power of the individual or ministry that has gone through battle

Red is said to be the “power color” with corporations utilizing it to express superiority

The primary basis for the symbolism for red is that red is the color of blood

Notice that the blood of Christ won the greatest battle of all

Universal Dream Element

1) Concerning something that will emerge later, something that is on hold

It’s not time yet, be patient

God is at work behind the scenes or preparing someone for later promotion

• My husband and I were ministering through prophetic prayer weekly in a shelter for men when I had a vision of many refrigerators. God wanted me to understand that he was allowing their homelessness in preparation for his intentions for good for them in the future. It wasn’t there time yet; they were going through a season intended to pull them up.

Universal Dream Element

1) Concerning taking in or dispensing information

Can symbolize a school, study group, church, ministry etc.

2) Taking in or dispensing of information with a fellowship or relational aspect involved

• My husband and I have had numerous dreams in restaurant settings. They were generally about study groups we were involved in or leading

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1) Concerning authority or false authority

Genuine authority can be connected with accomplishment, reward, honor, anointing

False authority may be connected with self-sufficiency, pride, insubordination, usurping of worldly authority; concerning someone taking authority over something illegitimately

False authority can even be associated with one carrying a burden which the Lord has not asked the person to carry

The great prophet Isaiah, speaking of the 2nd coming, foretold of the Messiah “the government shall be upon His shoulders”.
Authority will be upon Christ’s shoulders. Revelation 11:15 describes it, And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

sheep on shouldersJesus has authority over His children who are often symbolized in the scripture as sheep… The Lord is my shepherd Psalm 23
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.John 10:11
“I know my sheep and my sheep know me”. John 10:14
“Anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.” John 10: 1

shoulders crossbeam - CopyWhen Jesus took the cross upon his shoulders, He was preparing to take authority over sin.

This picture is a beautiful foreshadowing of his dealing with sin on the cross

Example: In one dream- during a battle over dominion over the use of a property- a person symbolizing the contender was shot in the shoulder. This indicated that he would not succeed… and he didn’t.

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1) Snakes represent lies

The snake is the creature that’s virtually all tail, and nothing but tail

Notice that a tail is a homophone for a tale, a story, fable, excuse, or fabrication

From a Biblical perspective, Satan came to Eve in the form of a snake with lies

2) Snakes represent those who lie as a way of life or demons working through such people. These folks may have undiagnosed personality disorders (which may be the clinical expression for demons)

Snakes are exceptionally repulsive to me. I can’t stand to look at them even in pictures and hate it when I see them in dreams. A couple of years ago, a large snake slithered across my chest beneath my shirt. It was one of the most traumatic dreams ever.

I was soon to face my devious older brother in court. I needed to be prepared to face an imposter, one who redefines himself or the events around him to suit his needs.

Venomous snakes are more destructive

Longer snakes are more destructive or referencing a longer amount of time

Fatter snakes represent a great depth of deception

White snakes are false doctrines or false religion

spider - Copy
Universal Dream Element

1) Spiders generally represent witchcraft or the occult

What makes spiders distinct is that they spin webs

And these webs are the most elaborate and successful of traps within the animal kingdom

Although many other creatures symbolize the demonic for many reasons, the elaborate trap spun by the spider most symbolizes witchcraft & the occult

Contact with the kingdom of darkness can be an equally devastating trap

Universal Dream Element

1) If not literal, this may be referring to something the dreamer is partnered with

It could be a business or ministry partnership, or anything you are permanently or temporarily connected to

Have seen this to refer to everything from a contact lens to a trustee-benefactor relationship

taxi SQ
Universal Dream Element

1) Taxis have to do with whether what we are doing or involved in is in our best interest

If you are the driver- you are doing something without heart or calling

If you are a passenger- you will have to pay a price to do this

• One of our sons dreamed he was in the back seat of a taxi and the driver took him out of his way and charged him extra. The dreamer refused to pay. Turned out that although his girlfriend was awesome, she was not the one for him. He was on a detour, so to speak. Thankfully, he only lost some time and now is engaged to the right gal.

Universal & Biblical Dream Element

1) About issues of information, insight, wisdom, or foolishness

Like a broken tooth… is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble Proverbs 25:19

If a dreamer’s teeth are loose or coming out, the dreamer is in need of insight or wisdom

Insight can be a prophetic word, wisdom comes with an open heart

With teeth, we bit off things and chew on them. Without them, we’d have a hard time taking in any food. Can you see the metaphor?

• When my father was dying of cancer, I dreamed my wisdom teeth were twice as tall as they were supposed to be, and I was spitting out blood in his sink. The dream was fulfilled when I stayed with him and knew exactly what to say at the time of opportunity- the blood of Christ just spilled out.

A dream of losing an entire set of teeth is warning the dreamer that what they are about to do is extremely ill-advised and will bring dire consequences.

• A young woman I know told me years ago that she had dreamed that very thing- that all her teeth fell out. I knew details of her life and minimized the warning. Before long a conflict surfaced and her response to it cost her immensely. She was ostracized from family for over a year.

A dreamer who dreams he or she is in the dentist chair with teeth being fixed can expect the Lord to be doing some tweaking on him or her

• The chief priests and rulers rejected Christ three times

• Jesus raised from the dead after three days just as Noah was in the belly of the whale three days

This victory over death implies total, sufficient, and utter completeness at its highest level

(Num 4:3; 2 Sam 5:4; Lk 3:23; Mt 26:15)

Universal Dream Element

• I’ll never forget one of my toilet dreams- sitting on a toilet in full view of others with a plate of food on my lap. Multitasking wasn’t such a good idea when the entire toilet tipped over and I found myself in a mess on the floor!

1) Toilets are the place of removal of the unwanted, unprofitable, or toxic

This can symbolize a place of repentance

It can symbolize emotional healing due to the removal of bitterness, for instance

Just think of things are best when removed- anger, foolishness, pride, selfishness, ungratefulness

But the list is unlimited. Seek the Lord for insight as to what is in need of removal

mercury locket
Universal Dream Element

1) Wednesday in dreams means that something is associated with trade, merchants, merchandise, commerce, wages, etc.

These concepts originate from the Latin words merx (merchandise, merchant, commerce), mercari (to trade), and merces (wages)

The Latin name Wednesday dates back to the 2nd or 3rd century, and is part of the Greek and Roman system of naming the days of the week after the seven classical planets

Wednesday was actually named after the planet Mercury associated in Roman Mythology with the god Mercury who was a wing-sandaled messenger.

Wednesday, then, in dreams, takes on the meaning of this son of Jupiter, Mercury, the god of commerce.

• A family member very recently dreamed that she received a call that Aunt Cindy died on a Wednesday

The name Cindy is of Greek origin meaning “Moon” or “Moon Goddess”. If you checked our entry on the moon, you know it can be associated with the 2nd heaven (evil). So we can expect the impact of evil as related to commerce to end. God only knows what end will look like, but we know it has to do with an X who was caught embezzling a large amount of money.

zip lock
Universal Dream Element

1) One who dreams of Zip-lock bags is most likely dreaming about email messages

• Envelopes in dreams have to do with invitations. My mother, after landing in the hospital with a stomach bug told me of a dream so real of many white and two purple envelopes hitting her in the eyes. It was so real that she thought the nurse who woke her was doing it.

As it turned out, this was a picture of her loved ones in heaven inviting her to join them, with Jesus and the Father sending invites as well.

Zip-lock bags are like envelopes, only you can see the inside easily
